Say goodbye to harsh chemicals and embrace a new way of living by using a non-toxic body wash! Some mainstream body wash brands can contribute to health problems like respiratory issues, skin irritation, allergies, and cancer, as well as complications with fetal development and reproductive health. What I’ve learned through all my research on clean products is what we put on our bodies is just as important as what we put in them.
Before selecting a product, I go through all of its ingredients to make sure it doesn’t contain anything harmful. I also use the EWG as a guide, but do not follow it blindly. Just like any clean product app or website, nothing is perfect. What is the EWG? The EWG stands for the Environmental Working Group. This organization rates personal care products on a scale of 1 to 10, where 1 represents the cleanest and 10 indicates the most toxic products. The cleanest products go even one step further and are EWG verified. EWG verified items are the cleanest products.
Below is my list of natural body washes that I’ve researched. Some have EWG ratings, but some don’t. Either way, I’ve personally reviewed the ingredients in each product to ensure there isn’t anything harmful. Below are natural body washes for women and for men. Each has different scents available so take your pick! Hopefully, you find a clean body wash that works for you so you can prioritize your health and well-being and say goodbye to harsh chemicals and harmful additives.
1. BE-ONE ORGANICS USDA Organic Body Wash Spearmint & Eucalyptus, All Natural Body Wash
EWG Rating: No rating, but I checked all the ingredients and it looks great. It contains saponified oils (coconut, shea butter, olive, sunflower, and jojoba), aloe, glycerin, and essential oils. These are all clean ingredients and it’s USDA Certified Organic.
This non-toxic body wash is for anyone including men, women, or children. Although it’s not tear-free so if you use it on children, keep it out of their eyes. It’s sulfate-free, paraben-free, fragrance-free, and dye-free, and has never been tested on animals. It’s a great body wash for individuals with eczema, or psoriasis. It’s also made in the USA and sustainably harvested.
2. Bubble and Bee Lavender Shower Gel, Body Wash Natural
EWG Rating: No rating, but doesn’t need one. Keep reading!
This is a beautifully clean shower gel from Bubble and Bee (one of my favorite companies). I have gone through all the ingredients and everything is super clean and safe. Although, with this company, you don’t even have to look at the ingredients. They are a company I trust and know their products are always clean.
It contains absolutely no parabens, fragrances, phenoxyethanol, sodium lauryl sulfate, coco betaine, phenoxyethanol, or other xenoestrogens. It contains nothing artificial by any means. It’s gentle enough to even use on a baby’s skin, however, it is not tear-free. Natural soap can’t be tear-free without adding chemicals and this company refuses to add chemicals. Want a different scent? Take your pick from lime, lemongrass rosemary, orange, and unscented. Shop now!
3. Aleavia Orchid Body Cleanse – Organic & All-Natural Prebiotic Body Wash

This non-toxic body wash has great ingredients. One ingredient that it has is orchid oil. Orchid oil has repairing properties and is rich with minerals that exist naturally in the skin such as calcium, copper, iron, magnesium, and zinc. It also contains organic coconut oil and organic Acadian sea kelp which helps restore your skin’s microbiome while sealing in moisture. This clean body wash can also be used as a shampoo and is great for soothing eczema, psoriasis, and keratosis.
In addition, this organic body wash is biodegradable, GMO-free, and free of artificial dyes, fragrances, parabens, chemicals, and animal by-products. It’s also cruelty-free. Shop now!
4. Vermont Soap Lavender Ecstasy Moisturizing and Soothing Gel Body Wash, Natural Body Wash For Men or Women
EWG Rating: No rating, but I checked the ingredients and they look great. This product is also USDA Certified Organic.
This gentle non-toxic body wash comes in four different scents (one of them being unscented) and all of them are clean. This body wash is made with organic oils like aloe vera, coconut oil, shea butter, olive oil, jojoba, and rosemary oil which make it perfect for dry and sensitive skin. This clean body wash is free of sulfates, phthalates, chemical detergents, petrochemicals, artificial colors, fragrances, animal by-products, and other harsh chemicals. It’s also made in the USA, uses ethically sourced ingredients, and is vegan and cruelty-free.
5. Earthley Wellness 3-in-1 Soap
EWG Rating: 2
This is a great company that makes a ton of clean products. This 3-in-1 clean body soap bar can be used on your hair, face, and body. It contains NO colors, flavors (natural or artificial), preservatives, added sugar, sodium benzoate, citric acid, top allergens (corn, soy, nuts, gluten, dairy, fish), or other harmful ingredients. It does contain a mix of oils (coconut, pumpkin seed, jojoba, castor, avocado, and apricot) as well as kokum butter. This soap is safe for everyone (unless you have an allergy to one of the ingredients). It’s even safe for pregnant and breastfeeding women.
6. Dr. Bronners Castile Soap
EWG Rating: This soap is rated an A. It uses a letter rating system since it is also a cleaner. An A is a great rating and indicates that it is clean.
This non-toxic body wash can be used for several different things including laundry, mopping, hand-washing dishes, all-purpose cleaning, washing pets, face wash, body wash, hand soap, make-up removal, shaving, shampoo & more. When you use it for other things, you can dilute it (instructions on the bottle and also on the Dr. Bronner’s website), but for body wash, you can simply squeeze some on a wash cloth or loofa without diluting. Dr. Bronner’s has several different scents (including an unscented one) and it consists of very few ingredients. All the ingredients are clean. This non-toxic body wash is free of synthetic preservatives, detergents, foaming agents, parabens, sulfates, and other harmful ingredients.
7. Carina Organics Citrus Body Wash, Natural Body Wash
EWG Rating: 1
This non-toxic body wash is formulated with certified organic plant, vegetable, and fruit extracts. It’s hypoallergenic, biodegradable, paraben-free, soy-free, dye-free, gluten-free, cruelty-free, fragrance-free, and vegan. There are no harmful additives, synthetics, or chemicals in this product. It comes in different scents including an unscented one, all of which are equally as clean. In addition, this clean body wash contains certified organic ingredients sourced from sustainable manufacturers dedicated to environmental preservation. This is a great company! I haven’t tried their body wash yet, but I use their clean hair products.
